Little Bow Girl

Wife, Mama to Sophie Rose, Full Time Day Dreamer

Its been a difficult past two weeks, but I’m determined to make the best of what is to come.

All I can do now is to leave everything in God’s care, because my burdens have become too wearisome for me to hold on my own. I just have to move on and keep trying to do what’s right, and I’m sure things will turn out for the best.

This is easier said than done, of course, and often I find myself lapsing into absolute silences where I feel like I have lost hope in myself and in what lies ahead for me, but that is a discredit to everything I have worked for.

People make mistakes, I many more than others, but this is a mistake I can take responsibility for and make right, so that is what I will do !

K and I recently welcomed a new member to our ‘family’ that is not Sylvanian Families nor comes in a paper box, but is just as adorable !

Meet Toffee!

Toffee – our little fatty, is a pudding hamster!

He’s about 3 months old, has been with us for just over a week now, and has also become the reason for me wanting to rush down to our new place every evening for some quality bonding time.  He has bright beady little eyes, loves ripping up kitchen roll, and has a permanent ‘ curiouser and curiouser !’ expression on his little hammie face!

He loves iceberg lettuce, parsley, broccoli, and sunflower seeds!

He was a little wary of us when we first got him, but now sits quietly in our palms nibbling snacks, burrows under his pink fluffy bedding and pops up again suddenly to play peekaboo, and once even threw a tantrum and threw up all the food in his mouth because we bullied him by refusing to let him slide down a cushion!

Nomming on his yoghurt honey drops!

We got him a little bath tub ..

With bathing sand!

Never ‘bathe’ your hamster like you would a normal dog or cat. They will most likely catch a cold and die, and even if

they don’t, they won’t emerge any cleaner because the natural oils in their coat won’t come off with water and most soaps.

Instead, giving them sand, which they will instinctively roll around in like a big marshmallow, is the way to go !! The oils in their coat are absorbed by the sand and dirt sieved out by the fine particles, leaving their fur shiny and healthy!

Nibbling on my palm !

K and Toffee !

Toffee makes him laugh and smile like a small boy – something I haven’t seen in a long time. Sometimes we’re so caught up in trying to be good grownups we lose sight of the fact that there is still a child in all of us .. and I’m glad it still surfaces now and then. =)

In other house related things:

My new Victorian lamp!

I’m sure you’re bored to death of looking at pictures of our home now, but haha ^.^ I guess I’ve just become boring!

Happy 2011!
