So I have the most amazing group of ex-colleagues from my ST days and they are also possibly the most funny, sincere and spontaneous friends I have !
This story is about how we all ended up swearing to turn up at 8 am on the first day that Starbucks was starting it’s Christmas drinks, laughing at how ridiculous we were but just having so much fun we didn’t want to leave.
It all started with a press release from Starbucks – embargoed, of course – announcing that their Toffee Nut, Peppermint Mocha and Cranberry White Chocolate Lattes were back on the seasonal menu !
AND I TELL YA, NO ONE DOES CHRISTMAS LIKE STARBUCKS. THEY ARE LIKE THE TANGS OF COFFEE JOINTS. NO COMPETITION.
I mean what other coffee place rolls out an entire Christmas menu with cakes and pies to match your lovely, sweet, spicy drinks? (I have tried them all, please go for the peppermint cheesecake and also the tomato and cheese tart. They are the bomb)
Anyway – I frantically sent out a public service announcement to the Ding Dong Belles – they were the first people I thought of – and also the only friends I know who would go as nuts as me – we have all nursed a terrible coffee habit that was an unfortunate occupational hazard from our days in the newsroom ( except Dawn is still there !)
After a flurry of exclamation marks and breathless exchanges of excitement at the pee-in-my-pants level on the general scale of things, someone suggested meeting at 8 am on the day the launch. At Novena.
And we all agreed.
Of course, I was late. But you know the thing about pregnancy is that everyone is extra nice to you and someone else who was late (but still half an hour earlier than me) ended up getting bitched at instead ! Perks !!
Photos all taken by Shoe on her very professional (and unforgiving) DSLR !
MILK MOUSTACHE !
Love days like these – the warmth and coziness stayed with me the rest of the day 🙂
