This is Baby Gammy

He is a six month old baby boy with Down’s Syndrome and a congenital heart disease. He is one of a pair of twins born to a surrogate Thai mother from an Australian couple. His biological parents only took his healthy sister, and left him behind, abandoned.

His Thai surrogate mother had decided to keep the twins despite being instructed to abort them when tests showed that Gammy had Down’s. She chose to save their lives. Now, along with two of her other children, Gammy and his Thai mother continue to live in poverty and they have no money to pay for the heart and lung treatments he desperately needs to stay alive.

His story broke my heart a million times over. I was torn between rage, helplessness, sorrow and the need to find this boy, hug him, kiss him and shield him from all the injustice and pain he has had to suffer in the mere six months he has been alive. I look at my sleeping little Sophie Rose, so blessed and so beloved to us and I want to bless this child in turn, he who needs it so much more!

Because we cannot get onto the next flight to Thailand,  our family donated to Hope for Baby Gammy on Go Fund Me. The money goes to an Australian charity which works in Thailand and will be administered solely for his medical treatment and living expenses.

Help Baby Gammy – he may have biological parents who are monsters but he is a beautiful, innocent baby who deserves love, happiness and acceptance.

The father is a convicted paedophile also. At least the baby appears to be loved by his surrogate mother and her family.

Lisa – I think so too. While its really tragic that he will not be able to grow up with his twin, at least he will grow up in a surrogate family that has accepted him and wants to give him the best they can give!

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I was moved beyond words and if I could have adopted him, I would. I’m torn between knowing that he is with people who love him and hoping that he be adopted by people with financial resources to raise him. Also, because of my daughter and all the love we give her, I hope that all children, especially Gammy, could be so fortunate. I have a feeling he is well loved, I just hope he we’ll be blessed with material comforts too. I did end up making 2 donations and now pledge recurring donations. He is just so precious.

Thank you Patty! I do worry what will happen to Gammy when the media attention fades.. there seems to be no real updates on the situation and the entire thing is just so terribly heartbreakingly sad ! HUGS!
