Hi everyone 🙂
Sorry for the lag between posts – I have truly been madly busy and I’ve just got back from an amazing trip to Seoul with my baby sister. I thought I would break down halfway from missing Sophie-doll but besides compulsively watching videos of her all day long and sighing loudly everytime I saw a bubba, I would say I did pretty okay ^^
A few days ago, a friend got in touch with me and shared with me about her sisters’ business making personalized name rings and necklaces.
Now I have never been a big one for jewellery. My necklaces, almost all gifts, mostly lie untouched in my jewellery box, and I only wear earrings on special occasions. I find accessorizing really fussy to be honest, and would prefer to carry a statement purse rather to wear a statement piece.
I typically only wear my wedding and engagement ring. Since Sophie Rose came along, that’s been cut down to usually just my wedding band because I worry that my solitaire will cut her ( no la, it’s not that big, I’m just paranoid about sharp edges).
But I really couldn’t say no when I took a look at Centime Gift‘s website. I immediately fell in love with their stackable name rings – they are simple, classic and so wearable on a daily basis.
Best of all, I was immediately charmed by the idea of how it would remind me of her everywhere I go.
I mean, it’s one thing to flip open my phone and look through my 10,000 photos of her, and another .. to unsuspectingly glance at my finger on a long, tough busy day and instantly be suffused with affection, love and longing because I see her name, the name I took so long to choose and feel so deeply for, on my finger, along with the most significant gift that has come to represent the other most important person in my life – and heart. 🙂
I also absolutely adored the fact that Centime was a mummy-run business – because I know how much passion, thought, drive and pure hard work mumpreneurs do. ^^ I just love your stuff Ginny and keep coming up with more beautiful things 🙂
Her business partner, Luna passed the ring to me as soon as she could ( lovely lady and so very sincere !)
Aren’t they just gorgeous stacked together? I set it against a wine velvet ribbon I bought from Paris to show clearly how well cut and well sized the stackable name ring is.
I chose my ring in sterling silver because I don’t really like gold, but there is a gold-plated option available too ! Of course, all items are made-to-order but the turnaround time is pretty quick (depends on where you are ordering from).
Personally, I prefer to wear accessories on my finger rather than around my neck, because Sophie Rose has started tugging at anything around my face ( Read: Nose, Lips, Ears, Eyes all ruthlessly invaded by searching, stubby little baby digits) and I am quite the violent bather (enjoy scrubbing myself down vigorously with my Korean Jimjilbang Scrubbing Cloth every night).
But a name necklace for those of you with bigger (and gentler) children would be just lovely too.
You can put more than one name for name necklaces 🙂 I’m thinking of getting one with two names after I have my second child, or maybe even one with Benjamin (my puppy) and Sophie.
Argh so lovely!
Here’s my stackable Sophie ring when worn:
Sophie Rose Teo
Rose: Primrose / Delicate, pure but strong
Names have power, and names shape and form you – this is something I truly believe. It is also the first big gift our parents gave us and this is why my daughter’s name means so much to me.
And here she is – everything I have longed for, and more. 🙂
I have loved my own name all my life and when I was younger, I would ask my Mama over and over again why she named me as a Gift from God – it made me feel special, wanted and cherished. This is something I hope that Sophie will feel when she is older and understands her own name 🙂
